I lease my car - a BMW 328i. My lease comes up in 2 months (April 7th to be exact), and I didn't want to re-lease with BMW. Don't get me wrong - I thoroughly enjoyed driving my car and I'm definitely going to miss it. It's a one-of-a-kind-snitz-original. I waited 3 months for my car to be shipped from Germany because I got all picky and demanded a Monaco Blue exterior with a black interior and cherry wood grain. (99.99999999% of the Monaco Blue exteriors come with the beige interior, trust me..... because there was only 1 in the BMW database - and I made that puppy mine!) My little baby looked something like this:
So, if you know me, you know I am a super Type A personality and how incredibly tense I am, blah blah blah. So I started my car shopping 2 months early. The result of that???? Now I have 2 cars. Whoopsie. But I got the car I wanted for the price I wanted (actually LESS if you can believe that) and they bought me out of my current lease.... so I'm a happy camper. Meet, my new baby - the Infiniti!

Beauty confession
So, I have a confession to make. I spend (a lot) of money on different products for my skin. Let me back track a second..... throughout my teenage years, I had perfect skin. No acne, no blemishes, nothing. Friends used to envy my skin. And truth be told, I took care of it. I applied benzol peroxide every night - just in case. I used moisturizer when my skin was dry, I washed my face before going to bed every night - I did everything right.... and it showed.
Fast forward 5 years to my early/mid twenties, and my skin took a poop. I started breaking out, and try as I might, NOTHING worked. NOTHING! Well, to be honest, stuff did work, but once I stopped taking it, it would go right back. So I finally decided I wanted someone to give me Accutane. Easier said than done. Nobody would give it to me until finally, one dermatologist perscribed it - probably just to shut me up. And yes - it worked. It was a miracle. I mean, despite the fact that now I suffer from various intestinal disorders - which may or may not be a result of having taken the drug, it did work wonders.
It's been about 5 or 6 years since I finished my Accutane cycle, and my skin is pretty much fabulous. I'm not going to lie. However that junk works, it seriously fixes your skin forever. I stopped taking such good care of my skin, and yet, it's still fabulous. Go figure, right?
So - as I was saying - I do spend a lot of money on various products for my skin - moisturizers, toners, primers, night creams, wrinkle creams, etc. Clinique, Este Lauder, Oil of Olay, Neutrogena, Elizabeth Arden, Villa Floriani, etc. And I do wash my face before going to sleep every night. But it's what I wash my face with that i'm confessing about. I buy Oil of Olay Foaming Face Wash to use, but I keep it in the shower, and usually at night I end up just washing my face with good old hand soap at the sink because I'm too lazy to walk 5 steps to the shower, bend over, and get the actual face wash! On top of that, I'm too tired at night to bother applying any lotion, cream, toner, etc. to my face - I just want to go to bed - so hundreds of dollars worth of products go unused in my gravehard of beauty supplies (i.e. my medicine cabinet).
Oddly enough, every night as I wash my face with HAND SOAP, I tell myself that tomorrow I'm going to start taking better care of my skin. But then I get lazy again and the whole cycle starts over. In case you're wondering, I am currently washing my face with this lovely handsoap from Bath & Body Works - Anti Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in White Citrus.
Word to the wise...... don't wash your face with the Twister Peppermint hand soap - it burned my eyes (and face) like all hell for about 10 minutes!
Since I already washed my face tonight (with hand soap), I will officially start using face wash tomorrow (or so I say).

Potcake anyone?
Ever hear of a Potcake Dog? They're a breed of dog indigenous to (mainly) two Caribbean areas - The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. They're named "potcakes" because of the caked food (crud) on the bottom of pots after cooking, which are usually fed to them.
Back in 2009 - a month before we decided to adopt a dog - we had the luxury of visiting Providenciales, Turks & Caicos. I say we had the luxury because as I've mentioned earlier - I won the trip in a radio contest. No strings attached. I'm going to digress for a moment, but I have to brag for a minute.
I knew I was going to win this contest. I tried for two weeks, unsuccessfully, and on the last day, I woke up early (on my day off from work) snapped on the radio, and DECLARED that I was winning that damn trip! As luck would have it, I was caller number 9 and alas, we were off to the Beaches Resort in beautiful Providenciales!
Everything was paid for. E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G!! Our airfare, our transfers, our "Governor's one bedroom luxury suite," all our food, all of our beverages - adult and otherwise, all our activities, etc. Truly a wonderful experience. Beaches Resorts, in case you aren't familiar, are part of the Sandals empire. Hence, they are all inclusive, but unlike Sandals, they are family oriented. Having said all that - we still had a nice, romantic time - unlike some people, I love children, and I had absolutely no problem with them being there.
Side note - I also won a big bottle of Rum while on our trip because I am freaking amazing at ring toss....... but back to the Potcakes.
They're adoreable dogs, that oftentimes are left neglected and uncared for. There is a group in Turks & Caicos - specifically Providenciales - that tries to rescue and adopt them - Potcake Place. They're free - the only thing you need to pay for is their airport transfer - $100 on most airlines/$200 on Delta. Of course, donations are always welcome and very much needed.
Here's another pretty amazing thing I only wish I had known before we went. They look for volunteers to fly these dogs to the U.S. You don't necessarily have to adopt them. As long as you are willing to lend a hand, and you are flying from Providenciales, you can contact them with your information, and if they are able to set up an adoption in your general area, they will meet you at the airport with a puppy, in a special bag, that you essentially escort to your final destination. I am sure if you have a long flight, you are responsible for walking the dog and making sure the dog does his or her business, but airports are set up to accomodate this (as I found out when I was waiting for my dad to pick me up outside baggage claim after our failed California trip, but I don't want to go there!) Then when you get to your desination airport, somebody will meet you in a predetermined area and take the dog.
How amazing would it be to know that you helped a dog survive and find a new life with a family that will feed it real food and not just potcake? If I had known about this, we definitely would have signed up for it..... hell, we probably would have left our trip with 2 new puppies! Our flight to and from Provo was about an hour long - how easy it would have been!!!! But at the time, we weren't yet thinking about getting a dog, and we didn't know about this organization. I had, however, heard of Potcakes through my pre-vacation research (i.e. Tripadvisor - seriously a great website!)
I should note, I am in no way affiliated with this organization, nor do I personally benefit from advertising their services. I am, ultimately, an animal lover and I truly think this is an amazing thing these people are doing. These people do not get paid for doing this, and they don't even require a mandatory donation to perform these services, yet they do it because they love these dogs and want to see them happy, healthy, and thriving in an environment where they are loved and adored as all dogs deserve.
Just look at this little face..... how could you NOT want to help!
If you'd like to learn more, or are interested in adopting or transporting, please visit their website: http://www.potcakeplace.com/
If we ever travel back to Provo - which I sincerely hope we do, Potcake Place will definitely be getting a phone call from me - either to adopt or to be a "courrier." My dad is supposed to be traveling to Grand Turk for some work, and since he has to travel through Provo to get to and from Grand Turk, I warned him that I am going to be on him like white on rice to lend a hand!
And because I loved my trip to Turks & Caicos so much, I wanted to share a few pictures of this wonderful vacation - just because!

Wordless Wednesday
Cuddling in bed (in our messy room) and sharing a banana with Bailey who isn't feeling so well.....
Okay - so it wasn't, in fact, so wordless after all....

Happy Birthday, Morgan
Today, January 17, 2011, would have been Morgan's 14th birthday. She died exactly 3 weeks ago today, and I miss her every single day. Happy Birthday, baby girl..... I love you!

My TBR list
I don't make resolutions. It should be noted that I don't do that because I never keep them. And who wants to set themselves up for failure? Not me!
I do, however, read quite a bit. It's something I fall into and out of. There will be weeks where I tear through a book every few days, and othertimes when it takes me a month to finish one. That's how I roll. One of the things I would like to do this year is find a book club to join. Or start my own. I'd like to read more - and on a more regular basis.
I used to purchase books constantly on Amazon.com. But damn, that shiznit gets expensive after a while. I do, on occasion, re-read books, and I love having them on the shelf. So I am not opposed to purchasing books, although I have recently been taking very much advantage of what the public library has to offer. I find that when I check the book out (as opposed to purchasing) it makes me feel obligated to read it (since if I don't, I still have to return it).
I have a stack of books that are on my To Be Read (TBR) list right now, that I will share, so I can track how well I do. So far this year, I have read:
Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Chelsea Handler
Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner
I am currently reading:
Pug Hill by Alison Pace
On my TBR list:
When in Rome by Gemma Townley (library)
Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella (library)
Jemima J by Jane Green (library, but due back on Tuesday so it's not making the cut this round!)
When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris (purchased)
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd (given to me)
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (stolen from a friend)
Not Married, Not Bothered by Carol Clewlow (purchased in London in 2005)
Pack Up the Moon by Anna McPartlin (borrowed from mom)
Three Dog Life by Abigail Thomas (purchased)
Wedding Girl by Madeline Wickham (purchased)
Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst (purchased)
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (started 2 years ago and never finished - borrowed)
In addition to that list, I am currently on hold at the library for the following:
My Formerly Hot Life by Stephanie Dolgoff
A Shore Thing by Snooki (I couldn't resist - don't judge me)
Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner
Naturally, the books that I currently own, borrowed from friends, or stole always take a back seat to the ones I check out from the library. Regardless, I would like to read at least 3 books a month - so we'll see how that plays out this year. :)

Chelsea Handler, anyone?
I love Chelsea Handler. Well, to be more specific, I love Chelsea Lately - her talk show. My favorite part is the round table (and I love when Ross Matthews is on her roundtable). I'm not a huge fan of her standup, oddly enough. A friend of mine saw her live and said she was hilarious. D's sister and brother-in-law saw her live and not so much. And since I never enjoyed her specials on Comedy Central, I'm not rushing out to see her perform.
But I do love her show. I love her attitude, and her sarcasm. I'd hate to be on her bad side. I recently read all 3 of her books (IN ORDER):
-- My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands
--Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea
-- Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang
I gotta admit - they weren't as dirty as I had (hoped) expected. I wanted a little something more. And furthermore, I liked them in order from oldest to newest! I laughed out loud (a lot) while reading My Horizontal Life. I chuckled a bit while reading Are You There, Vodka? I didn't really even smile so much during Bang Bang.
So, if you're a fan, like I am, maybe you'll feel the same way. Or maybe I'm just crazy. Either way, I enjoyed reading them - they read exactly like she speaks. Whaaaaat.... a coincidence. I'm just sayin....

Doggy Beach
Well, since D is out with his friend Dain tonight to celebrate his birthday, I'm kinda bored. I'm exhausted, but I'm not quite ready to turn in for the night yet. I'm chillin on the couch with Bailey - watching HGTV and I just ate a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats. (shhh....)
So today we went to Hollywood's Doggy Beach. It was quite an experience. I wasn't ready to let Bailey off the leash. She goes to the dog park all the time off leash, but there were no fences or gates on the beach, and I didn't fear her going into the water or anything (she's NOT a fan), I was more afraid of her getting scared and running across the boardwalk and into the street.
We met D's sister and brother-in-law, and their miniature poodle, Lola (also not allowed off leash just yet) and we hung out for about an hour. There were a ton of dogs there - romping all around, jumping in the water, rolling in the sand. Bailey wasn't so sure what to make of it - she was a little jumpy. Then when I got home, someone I know told me (via Facebook) that I should be careful because I can easily pick up ringworm in the sand. EWWW YUCK, and THANKS - that's definitely what I wanted to hear. So now I'm so paranoid, we'll probably never go back!
I took some pictures - it was a really pretty day and I was trying (unsuccessfully) to play with some of the manual modes on my camera.

It's T-Shirt Time!
I'm sick. Bleh! D got sick New Year's Eve night and it lasted about a day or 2 - and he's back to normal. I woke up sick Monday and it's gotten progressively worse. I've got a runny/stuffy nose, swollen glands, sore throat, and now I've got a sweet dry cough to go along with it. I sound like a man when I speak, and I don't think I've slept for 3 nights. I was on Advil, Mucinex, and Nyquil to no avail. I'm armed with Puffs Plus with Vicks tissues and a bottle of orange juice, and I'm fighting through it as best I can! Hopefully I'll start to feel better soon so we can enjoy this weekend since last weekend was sort of a wash.
On another note - I saw today that Virgin America is offering $119 one-way tickets to and from San Francisco from Ft. Lauderdale between January 17th and May 4th..... so we're thinking about it.
On yet another note - Jersey Shore is back tonight!
I don't know why, but I can't get enough of this show. It literally feels like Season 2 just ended and already Season 3 is beginning. Hallelujah! It's definitely my guilty pleasure and I don't care who knows it. Now, I have to get ready..... it's almost T-Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiirt Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!!

Memories, Dreams, and Reflections of 2010
Let me start off by saying that although 2010 ended on a sour note, I enjoyed digging through my photos and reliving some of the good times all over again. I also had to compile this list with pictures from my DSLR, my point & shoot, and Facebook - since my laptop died and took several months of photos along with it. I managed to salvage as much as I could.
Here we go!
1. Me! - taken on vacation in Marco Island in front of the Marriott. Typical hands-on-hips as I learned that helps with that yucky arm fat deal that sometimes happens in pictures!
2. I Love You - D, Me, and Grandma - after dinner for her 92nd Birthday!
3. Still Laughing... - I ripped a pair of jeans - don't ask how - and decided to make shorts..... well they were way too short for me, so I put them on Bailey. Also, on New Year's Eve at a friend's house (after a few shots of Patron), she turned on her "Douglas the Singing Christmas Fir!"
4. Winter Wonderland - Our neighbors go way overboard at Christmas time - complete with music.
5. Birthday - Lexie turned 1 in February - I can't believe she's almost 2 already!
6. Friends - Some good work friends at our Christmas Party.
7. I Was Inspired... - by holiday bokeh pictures! I still don't know how to actually SAY "bokeh," but I love the effect in photos!
8. Spring Fever - We headed to the Morikami Japanese Gardens on a crisp spring day - the sky was beautiful.
9. Travel or Vacation - Beautiful Marco Island sunset this summer, even though it was overcast.
10. Summer Days - White sandy beaches and the Gulf of Mexico
11. A Day In My Life - There was a time when I would come home almost every day to this guilty little face. Bailey would hide behind the stairs as soon as she heard me open the door because she was on a destruction rampage. Luckily, I haven't had one of these moments in a while! The second picture was an unfortunate "poop bag" that she got a hold of when we left to go to the gym for an hour....
12. All Smiles - Love that face!
13. Autumn Harvest - We don't really have an autumn here in South Florida. We basically lack any season except for Summer and Not-As-Humid. I did snap this picture during the "autumn time" when I walked outside of my parents' house..... and the colors are "fall-ish..."
14. Family - This picture isn't great - it's partially blurry because SOMEONE was moving. We set the camera on a chair and used the self timer.... we're ghetto like that..... plus it wasn't the merriest of Christmases, but none the less, it's our little family.
15. Celebrate! - In October, we traveled to Rock Hill, South Carolina to see our good friend, Jante, get married. I snapped this picture right after they were announced as husband and wife and I love both of their faces.
16. Let's Do It Again... - While photographing these 2 little beauties, it started raining and we had to cut it short. I'd love to do it over again - weather permitting!
17. I Miss You - I miss my precious little Morgan. I wrote a post about it, but we had to put her to sleep 2 days after this past Christmas. This picture is pretty bad, but it's the last picture I have with her. I miss her every day - dogs are more than pets, they're family, and Morgan will be loved and missed forever.
18. Beautiful - This picture was pretty awful straight out of the camera - kind of blurry, underexposed, etc. I played with it a bit, and I think it now has a very beautiful, angelic look. I dig it.
19. Dress Up - Morgan, dressed up as a little flower this past Halloween.
20. Macro - I really need to work on my Macro shots, but I love taking pictures of flowers.
21. Holidays - This past 4th of July in Marco Island.
22. My Favorite - I'm not sure why I like this picture so much.... I think it's the colors.
23. Don't Ever Change - Oh to be young again without a care in the world, playing the air guitar, and running barefoot in the grass....
24. Just Because...So There! - This picture always makes me smile.
25. Hopes and Dreams - Well, I kinda cheated. This picture was actually taken on 1/2/2011..... it's the road ahead. Good riddance 2010, bring on 2011.
Here we go!
1. Me! - taken on vacation in Marco Island in front of the Marriott. Typical hands-on-hips as I learned that helps with that yucky arm fat deal that sometimes happens in pictures!
6. Friends - Some good work friends at our Christmas Party.
7. I Was Inspired... - by holiday bokeh pictures! I still don't know how to actually SAY "bokeh," but I love the effect in photos!
And there you have it - my 2010 in review.
